This topic is about the wide diversity of roles we find here, and hopefully about accepting and respecting these different roles.

These Member - Performer roles include:

A. Director - Actor
B. Fan Club Member - Star
C. Male Beauty Lover - Body Beautiful
D. Photographer - Model
E. Benefactor - Student
F. Sponsor - Contestant
G. Voter - Contestant
H. Viewer - Entertainer
I. Friend - Friend
J. Chatterer - Chatterer
K. Role Player - Role Player (eg Master/Slave)
L. fetish Lover - fetish Performer
M. Wanker - Sex Object
N. Just Curious - F4F Representative

There are other roles too, and variations of the above. If both parties feel comfortable with the roles, then I think they are all acceptable.

I think some of the friction in the forums and chat rooms stems from members feeling that their role on the site is the right one, and being dismissive of these different roles. That can sound like "preaching", as others have said elsewhere.

I will kick this off by saying a little about my own roles here.

I was first attracted to the site by A (Director - Actor). I had seen a number of adult movies, and was disappointed that solo scenes didn't include views that I liked to see. I loved the fact that on Flirt4Free I had a huge choice of wonderful performers, and could ask them to give me the views I wanted to see.

After a while I found out that many of my favourite performers were students. My main role then tended to be E (Benefactor - Student). It was great that they could offer lovely shows and I could help them with their student expenses.

Some of your thoughts are real eye-openers. I think I could assign to each of your points one or two performers that I ONLY visit(ed) for this role ...
E.g. 'N' I had a phase were I got really curious about all those interactive devices and chatted with a handful of models who were willing to share their experiences, likes and dislikes about these. I learned a lot but never got past the "just curious" stage ...

Grateful for your nice comments. Good to know that you can identify with each of the roles on the list.

I was thinking of new visitors to the site when I included Item N (Just Curious). You are quite right: there are also performers trying out new things (like interactive devices). And there are also new types of chat rooms, like Pirrer House and other multi model accounts (which you mentioned in a General Discussions topic).

Chris - I've been thinking about this point you made about role D (Photographer - Model)

I have enjoyed this role with some performers whose video quality has been jerky (*). I know that shows with lots of movement (dancing, cock stroking) would then be a disappointment. So we do posing shows, which I love anyway.

The performer can be in the same pose for several seconds. This makes it easy to do good quality screen captures from the VOD, if I want to do that. As a result I have a few lovely "photosets" of some of my favourite performers. So in a way I think the photographer- model roles can be quite real.

Thought it might be interesting to share that. It would be good if other members and performers add their comments, and say which roles they enjoy too

(*) A live webcam show is a complex operation, with a chain of variable components. One of the critical factors is the performer's local upload speed. Upload speeds tend to be much slower than members' download speeds. The speeds can vary at different times of the day, and can be affected by sharing with other sites. If the performer has a high quality video setting the output can sometimes appear jerky...

But I see, we have that in common, I prefer posing over mere flexing ...

when it comes to movement I prefer dance, cause you need all muscles for that, you get all types of angles and views.
Music tells a story and a great guy can tell it with his moves *dreaming and drooling*.

I had one more idea for a role:
You pointed to the "E. Benefactor - Student" with view to the real life situation of the performer and us as supporter of their beyond Flirt future.
For many new models this takes a more local aspect of the experienced flirt user and the new performer seeking advice and guidance.
I have myself collected a long list of advice I give to those who ask or who seem to need it ... too reluctant to post it here, as I know, it's a very subjective view on this.
Anyway, the Coach - Student

, or Veteran - Greenhorn is an interesting role, too, that I would wanna add.

This topic is worth a thesis in social studies :winkwink

Edit: Since I used the word "Veteran" for members here, I should also add, that some performers are capable to open up a new world to new users who might come from a world of shyness and misinformation/misunderstanding. For some of us it is a way to explore ourselves :thumbsup

. So the Late Bloomer / Young Adult - Veteran is a role I had, too, I guess I am still looking for new discoveries, lol.

What about members who due to their environment (family, friends, politics) cannot fully be who they are?
I have somewhere else in a "thank you thread" mentioned the shy and closeted ... people who - with the help of this site and the right performer(s) to match - can explore a completely new aspect of love(?), life, sexuality in a playful and safe manner and a somewhat more open environment.
Models become mentors, guides into a new world of pleasure
