I think if you met anyone on-line, especially, and including here, then it is a relationship because two people can feel the same way about each other, and are close to each other.

It can be as real as the people involved want it to be. The most important factors in any relationship are the Heart & the Mind, neither one of which absolutely requires a physical presence to be valid. If it is real, you will know it, and if it is meant to be, it will find a way, whether continuing solely online, or moving into the "real" world where you can touch, feel, and share each other's lives, without a thousand miles and an internet line in between. Believe me, this I know... :winkwink

It may be... I don't know... but one thing's for sure: You don't build as much character in an online relationship. The man doesn't have to listen to ABBA. The woman never sees any dirty underwear on her bedroom floor. The man can drive the car without backseat advice. The woman can get to a destination efficiently by asking for directions. The man can live in the country and let his manly dog run wild without a leash, hunting, wolf racing, and such. The woman can live in the city with her little hairless dog and shop to her heart's content.

The great novel's opening line: "It was the best of times... it was the worst of times" just doesn't apply the same way to one kind of relationship.
