You login to random chat rooms when you see a head shot that reminds you of her...
You notice when another model wears something she used to wear...
A raven is perched upon your bust of Pallas, a knock is heard upon your chamber door
You hear the song she loves on the radio and think "that doesn't suck so bad"
You play her VODs so many times that you start to visualize new camera angles, and lighting effects in your sleep. You can even see her ch1ldhood in your mind... Rosebud...
You've had imaginary conversations with her in-laws that end in "when is she coming back you fiend?"
You consult actuarial tables to ponder the likelihood that she has undergone various major live events... becoming only more intrigued by the task when your input numbers are measured in decades
Every Halloween some poor little k1d is wearing a costume that reminds you of her. And you grill her for hours on "just what does she think she is pulling by knocking on your door dressed like that?!?"
Yes... that's right... the cold chill down your spine is the obsession that someone has... for... YOU!!!!

The wolf has deadly green eyes that will find you when the time is so right little girl... Not even a full basket waved before a sensitive nose will deter him... Capes may cover or they may bind... And red is not the best color for blending into any room but one of Poe's...

Very early in the history of Love, a great man made a great discovery... It had long been observed that the first meeting after a long absense was especially sweet. The common view was that this was some kind of compensation for being denied affection, the compensation coming from the gods.
However this man, who was a carpenter in a large city, reasoned differently. He correctly surmised that if he saw more than one woman, he could be enjoying affection while simultaneously feeling that poignant missing feeling, undiminished. If he dated one heavily and then at some time swapped, he would get the wonderful feeling of being reunited in the one he had not been seeing but was now starting to see again...
It is a classic illustration of the benefits of Reason. Sadly the carpenter perished when his theory about the advantage of daytime adultery vs nighttime was exploded whilst in mid test. But his legacy lives on to this day...

In this case, he was denied both. The exact distance of denial and period of denial a simple calculation.
He found that he missed the wife he had seen longest ago more than the wife he had just seen. Proving irrefutably that it was distance in time and not in miles that mattered, for even as he crossed the mid point toward the wife of his destination, he still missed her more than that for which the missing time was shorter.
In this Age of Travel it is not surprising perhaps what he found. But back then this was not known for lack of precise enough measurements and typically short radii of marital confinements. Because of the sheer number of sailors, and wide range of journeys, there is little research needing to be done in this particular area of study.

( eggs sizzle... bacon pops... )
Euricides: Are you a disciple?
Carolina: ( stirring pot ) Why do you ask?
Euricides: My yolk is greasy but my toast is white...
Carolina: Quite astute... Now tell me how it effects us.
Euricides: It is perfect to test my new theory.
Carolina: ( cig dangling from upper lip as brushes some sausage into pan) Howzzat?
Euricides: There is no greater gulf that separates us than philosophy. Ergo, I will miss you more than one of my own school.
Carolina: I thought you were of the school of time not distance.
Euricides: The gulf of philosophy is so great that it includes a time differential.
Carolina: The deuce you say!
Euricides: Therefore I am on to Selucia. I'll miss you dear.
Carolina: Likewise I am sure.

And now consider what some consider the ultimate test of the missing phenomenum... It involves an experiment that many of you already are familiar with. I am speaking, writing actually, of the famous Rocket Twin Thought Experiment by Albert Einstein.
Einstein was careful in his treatment of clocks but negligent in his discussion of emotional issues such as the Missing Effect. I am qualified I assure you to fill in the missing detail.
The result that Einstein showed, with no wiggle room for the argumentative types among you, was that two identical twins would age at different rates if one stayed at home on the Earth while another made a rapid journey out and back to some distant destination by rocket ship. This was enough to revolutionize Science and astound the world, so we can perhaps forgive Einstein for neglecting to talk about the effect it had upon the twins emotional states.
The stay at home twin had to live out a long solitary life without company of his twin. His old age was spent in solitude. He was very down and missing his twin quite badly at the time of his death.
The twin that was chosen for the rocket ship adventure had quite a different experience. He got to see space racing by at a high rate of speed, got to feel those exciting g forces as he swung around, and in what seemed like no time at all arrived back at his planet still in the flower of his youth to find that he was a hero, lots of attractive women wanted to be with him, his small bank account had now grown to be able to provide for him and his soon to be found new family with ease, and he hadn't even begun to miss his twin or to even know that he had passed away years ago.
There are many lessons to be drawn from this... I will let the student make his own conclusions. But clearly any time you are feeling down from missing someone, keep in mind the rocket twins and just how arbitrary missing, and indeed Life, truly is.

Yes this kind of madness does not seem to exist in Nature. Which is a good thing. Otherwise those visiting relatives may never leave, or at least never seem to.

Now another trick you may have noticed but missed the implication of, is instead of referring to the whole person, as in "I miss Louise", the person doing the missing refers to the absent person in a partial way as in "I miss her smile". On the surface it may not seem like much of a distinction for we need the whole person of Louise to enjoy her smile. It may seem merely a kind of charming way to be a little more specific.
But is it really? Couldn't it also mean "That filthy bastard Louise is gone and good riddance but when she was around, stinking up the place, I did enjoy her smile, although I always suspected she was smiling from a mental image of gremlins disembowling baby harp seals." Behind that vagueness could hide a world of seething darkness. The person making the statement, was a wolf in sheep's clothing at least in the context of Louise, gaining from the communal good feeling of missing Louise while secretly being glad that she is gone, except perhaps for her smile which could easily be supplied by a visit to her grave, if dead, and a little snip snip here, snip snip there........ but I digress....
Yes this way of referring to the missing person makes them sound cold and dead, available to be manipulated in the most ghoulish ways, and should rightly be viewed with suspicion...

Well then let me tell you. This will work if she cares for you and is within voice distance. (bump bump) You take your canoe like this, see, and put it in the water. It has to be nearly still water for this to work. Hear how it laps on the sides of the canoe gently?
Now you get in with your geeeetar and sit up straight. Gotta be straight because you are gonna fill the valley with your sound. Fill it full. The geeeetar isn't for playing, it's for effect. Set it down in the canoe where a lady might sit if you were serenading her. And aim your voice just over the top of her head, you know over the guitar frets. Big voice. Rich voice. Honey summoning voice:
When I'm aaaaaa calliiiiiiiiiing youuuoooooo oooo oooooooooo ooooooo ooooo oooooooooooooooooo
Will you answer to ooooo oooooooo ooooooooooooo oooooooo ooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooo
