Whoooa hey and staaaaaand back. Our philosopher king has something to say about torture. Forget all the effort, time and trouble that went into undoing the mess that our last creative administration created by pushing the limit, redefining accepted mores, challenging conventions... that was just the idle frittering away of time, waiting, hoping that at last strutting onto the presidential stage would come our next Isaiah, who we must cherish before the heavens part and he ascends from amongst us to his rightful place in the pantheon. Those of you who doubted that it works, doubt no more. Those of you worried about the consequences, troubled by the moral issues... rest easy that it is just part of how we win baby. Don't be a cowering little liberal pussy. Let's make up some methods that'll really stick.
Oh and this is just a warm up for more discussion about how we are going to take the oil this time. Don't ask what that means. Just know that it is going to make us all rich and powerful. And our enemies won't be able to buy weapons anymore. Get your testosterone shots now baby. Time to be all man, super macho. We are going to win. It's all that matters. We are going to be fabulously rich. We are going to be great again.

Fine by me. Outcome: Thread closed in January due to inability to discuss the subject in a civil manner.
The whole point of interrogation is to prevent another 9-11 from happening here. The whole point is to catch the bad guys who hate this nation and find out all the information they know. It's called security and common sense. Apparently there are some here who want another terrorist strike to happen.
I would also add that if you want to see a bad example of a press secretary, look at Obama's. Obama's press secretary lied every day about everything, and his job was to lie for Obama every day. He was arrogant and condescending and a jerk.
In conclusion, I will say that if someone hurls insulting names that were never true of me, I am probably going to respond to it. As you would too.

Aren't you also pre-judging by the comments of how good you seem to think he will be? If his 1st 12 months end with an increased approval rating by all means be happy HOWEVER what if his approval ratings drops due to the people disagreeing with his actions on a national and global scale proving your opinions incorrect?
Will you then come back here and admit you are wrong if he does turn out crap?

touché!!! (Civil way of saying good shit!!)
... WAIT. That would mean that US companies are paying an extra tax you say? and it would cause all of the goods and foods we get from Mexico to skyrocket in price you say? So not only does this man want the taxpayers to pay for this wall (which has been proven throughout history to be ineffective), but then you are going to make us pay more for goods as well as mess up our trade agreement with Mexico and p1ss them off to the point that they wont even want to be an ally.
Observing what he has already done and what he states that he is intending to do in the near future and being concerned because it will have a direct and or indirect effect on ALL of our lives is not being a "complaining and prejudging liberal". It's called being an informed and concerned AMERICAN.
I want to thank Kert for his comments, applauding me standing my ground, my fortitude, and saying I am a worthy adversary. In these discussions at least I am increasing my post number, and soon I may be up to 60 or more. I agree, this thread should not be put into RIP status, just because we are talking about the issues of the day.
Kert, your leader is pretty much what a Republican would be over here. Suggs, your Prime Minister May is a Tory, and even though she is not another Thatcher, she seems to be a good leader to me. Trump is not exactly another Ronald Reagan, but he does have pretty much the same thinking and beliefs that he had. He has so far kept his promises, and if he continues keeping his word on every issue, he could turn out to be one of the greatest presidents we have ever elected. How many times have we heard of a politician actually keeping his word and doing what he said he would do? It never happens.
Kert is right, this is a very lively passionate thread. Even though it's not exactly like the discussions when AFP was posting, it is a lively discussion involving politics.
Trump certainly has not turned out crap so far. He has hit the ground running with executive orders and other actions and in every case, he is keeping his word to the American people. I wouldn't doubt it if he is reelected four years from now. He's done everything he said he would do.

Thank you ... trying to answer complex problems with extremely simple answers. Somehow these 'geniuses' don't think it all through, imagine security issues that take a full brain. It's easy to sign a piece of paper which makes people feel all warm and fuzzy until the shit hits the fan. Let's all be CONCERNED!!

And in the broader sense the thread demonstrates how it is in the world right now. The action is not here but with your representatives. Those in the opposition should continue to fight as we've already seen some especially objectionable policies reversed.
It is also clear that now is not the time to be a one issue fanatic. It is time to care about the broader issues. The health of institutions. Being intellectually lazy is not the approach. Time to climb higher on the cliff face sorting out the wheat from the chaff using direct verification much more frequently than normal.

yup that's just a common old greeting.
Derek I'd only take exception if you called me a name, because I think you'd actually mean it, you are a most sincere chap.
Frosted Mini, Trump WILL find a way to pay for the wall. He has any number of options, and the American taxpayer will not have to pay for it. One idea being considered is to keep the money found after a major drug cartel bust and using those funds to pay for it. One way or another, Trump will find a way to fund this project and Mexico will pay for it. He's kept his word so far, I have no doubt he'll keep his word on this one. You are prejudging, and when someone actually proves he keeps his word, that's called telling the truth, not lying. Don't forget that Trump has had many, many buildings constructed way UNDER the cost that was first estimated, AND he's done it in less time. He can do the same here.
Signing executive orders is not just a warm and fuzzy action that does nothing. He is actually doing great things with these orders, creating jobs, cancelling out Obama's BS, and he will get tax cuts through also.
And I'm an informed American, not just a mind numbed robot typing behind a computer screen. GEE, everyone ELSE is also typing behind a computer screen when they post in this thread. That's kind of how it happens, and always did happen that way.
Not to mention the many many people who have pointed out that there are sections of the border that cant be build upon due to the landscape, then even if he does put up the stupid wall, whats to keep people from tunneling under it or going over it. Is it so much to ask for people to learn from the past and not repeat history's unsuccessful ideas, its literally the definition of insanity.
If I had my way, I would have considered the Dream Team GOP ticket to be President Marco Rubio/Vice President Santorum. Rick Santorum is from Pennsylvania, a crucial state, and would bring in surrounding Midwestern states. Rubio is hispanic and from the important state of Florida. But the GOP nominated Trump anyway, and Trump/Pence was still able to win Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and other states. Even though I did not prefer Trump, he is doing pretty much what a President Rubio would have done, so I'm inclined to support him now. The main thing is that Obama's harmful policies and directives are reversed.
If it had been President Rubio or President Cruz or ANY other nominee, some people would be against the GOP nominee no matter what. Just by virtue of them being Republicans. In some people's minds, they can do NOTHING right. Even when they do right, they are STILL wrong. Well, I'm supporting Trump because he is doing right and what needs to be done on all the issues.
