This year, too, Australia has a great entry. Jessica Mauboy, who I believe is well known in the US, is making her second appearance as she had led the Australian "application to join ESC" a few years back. It's great to see her competing with her own song!
Other than that, I love this year's Israel, Sweden, Czech Republik, Ukraine ... oh my, they are ALL tremendous! Quote

It's the biggest, probably craziest TV event of the year in the world with a long standing tradition!
I dare say, that everybody can enjoy the contest and don't worry, my favorite songs also never win :D ...
But in the end, it's a big party to enjoy with your friends or family, at home or in a bar or live of course. Quote

... but yeah, as usual, some of my favorite songs didn't even make it into the final.
The show has been to Jersualem twice before, so I am looking forward to it. First songs and artists for 2019 are usually announced between Sept/Nov; so it's not a long waiting period.
I just found recordings of the oldest Eurovision shows from the 1950s on youtub, watching this now for rebound fun.
