I was in free chat with one of my favourite models a few days ago and a user started calling him a whole lot of names including "whore" and "slut". I felt sorry that he had to put up with that abuse. I asked the model to mute the user, which he did. Problem easily sorted, and everyone felt better.
Cross chatting can be particularly annoying. In a particular party chat there were 2 users who were having a conversation with each other on the lines of "Did you get the attachment", "No", "OK I'll send it to you now", "I've sent it", "Got it now", "No I was watching the game" etc. Had I known about the mute button I would have suggested to the model that he muted both of these badly behaved and disrespectful users.
The mute button does not seem to be quite as emotive as the ban button (although a ban only lasts 24 hours and is no big deal). If the mute button is used I understand that users can still carry on watching the model. It is a bit like being asked to be quiet, rather than being thrown out of the room.
Interested to have views from models and members. I hope this will be a constructive and pleasant thread, if we keep the debate at the general and not personal level.
Btw this is only my 5th topic in this forum. I thought it was more Quote

Thank you for your respectful (as usual) post, Ronnie. Models have THREE abilities in their open/free chat to keep "peace" in their rooms.
1) Ban - Kicks a member out of the performer's room for 24 hours. The model can request that F4F permanently ban a member from his/her room in extreme cases. Essentially, "ban" is just a "time out".
2) Silence - Prevents a member's text from being seen by the model or other members. My understanding is that members don't know when it's been applied to them (although I could be incorrect).
3) Ignore - Prevents a member's text from being seen by the model. Again, my understanding is that members don't know when it's been applied to them (although I could be incorrect).
A 4th (somewhat related) control is a button that prevents ALL greys from being able to type in a model's room. Most models do not use this as it affects their ranking & placement on the site.
Hope this clears the confusion.

I must admit I am not up to date with readung all the posts in the VIP section so have not seen anything about a "mute" button. Neither have I seen nor heard of a model having the facilty to stop/mute invididual customers from typing in their open room other than banning them.
They do of course have the facilty to not see all grey non-registered visitors. If they have activated this facility the "grey" can watch open room video and chat but cannot chat themselves. Quote

Thanks, Adam. Interesting to know that there are 2 different mute buttons. I should really refer to the "silence" button from now on. Quote

Adam made a couple of assumptions which I thought it would be good to confirm, and he is quite correct. Members do not know when the ignore and silence options have been applied.
The ignore option lasted for about 2 minutes. It gives the model a rest from seeing the comments from a particular member. Everyone else can see the comments.
The silence option lasted for 5 minutes. It gives the model and everyone else a rest from seeing the comments from a particular member. The member types away, and he is the only one who sees what he is typing.
I thought it would be useful to raise this topic again just now, in the context of the current debate about whispering. Whispering is the reverse of the ignore option. The model sees the comments, and everyone else doesn't.
Many members feel that it is useful to be able to use all the available features of the site so that models can run their rooms the way they want. The silence and ignore options do appear to provide some safeguard against excessive whispering.
Don't want to turn this into yet another topic about whispering, but happy if anyone wants to add views here about the ignore or silence options. Quote

Question : how do you ensure these features are not abused? Quote

I think that for the seasoned models maintaining control of their room is fairly easy. I just started in late December, but it was the guidance from friendly and polite members as well as the tips from the experienced models that help me get comfortable with the site and its features. I appreciate the post as well as the insight from the models I admire and at times flirt with.
Kind of miss whispers for that reason, lol.

Yes, with an e:
Demonic with a transposed emo.
