Different people tip for different reasons. I would suggest that the people that give the most to the models give because they like the model and not because of the sex. I can think of a few models who get some dedicated members who take them pvt for hours and hours just to chat with them.
That said, I don't think there is any simple "one solution for all" that works. I have seen a few models do very well with group chats. I have seen far more get a few pledges, and wind up with nothing because they did not reach the goal. I have also noticed that in Party chats, where the model gets all the tips - no refunds - the few tippers tend to continue to tip during the show. In G.C. after the show starts, the tips tend to end because there is a predetermined end to the show. It is something like the logic of the classic "Rock, paper, scissors" game. There are advantages and drawbacks to every option.
My own personal ongoing rant is about the multitude of anonymous grays who keep badgering / begging / demanding / insulting the models to get them to show something or do something. It also disgusts me to see some members bully other members to the point where they leave this site and go elsewhere.
One unique thing about THIS site is how much marketing it does. You can't surf the internet for long without encountering advertising for this site. A lot of people come to the site for some friendly entertainment, but get chased away by a handful of nasty ogres who take great pride in their "power" and obnoxious, hateful, bullying behaviors.
Simple solution: only visit models who block basic chat. No grays, no problem.
Talking about anyone in particular, Rog? Yes, it's true that some of us Rue the presence of "site bullies", but those "bullies" also tend to spend a lot of money on the site. Flirt4Free as an egalitarian democracy?! Where's the fun in that?
This is a business, plain and simple. If you don't like someone's behavior, out-spend them and then make your complaint. I bet it will be heard.
(Seriously, man... Let it go. Why bring this up in this thread? SO ) Quote
Great to have your input here, Jake.
On this particular point, I was thinking that it might be a good idea for models to set lower goals in these early few weeks of Group Chat until more members are familiar with it. There are benefits all round if models meet their targets and put on great shows. Good to see more and more support for Group Chat.
On the current question about showing too much too soon, I agree that it does show a bit of desperation which can be off-putting. Better to have some teasing and some seductive chat instead
Gotcha. I suppose it's up to the individual model and what their success with certain goals has been. Trial and error, right?
I've been considering doing more shows with an entertainment theme. I had a successful "I Hate Michelle Bachman" Group Chat (I talked about how evil and wrong my attraction to men is and how I needed to be saved, all while jerking off lol), so I've been considering doing things like naked handstands, eating a piece of chocolate cake while jerking off... You know, silly and fun... The kind of thing you wouldn't want in private, but to which you'd say "Eh, fuck it. Sounds entertaining enough... I'll throw down 50 credits to see that!" Thoughts? Quote

How about a puppet show with Big Blue and Darth? Quote

Domenic should do a fetish feature show, only instead of Chocolate cake, he should cover himself with chocolate syrup, marshmallow creme, and graham cracker crumbs and have a smoregasm! Quote

Paperpunch - didn't want this point to be overlooked with all the fun talk about chocolate cake etc. (Thanks, Jake, for suggesting fun and themed Group Chats. Lots of possibilities).
There is an official VS thread in the News and Announcements forum asking for feedback about Group Chat, so you might want to raise the point there. This is a more informal thread, for comments, experiences and advice which might be helpful to members and models getting familiar with the new feature.
It must be very disappointing for you not to be able to use Group Chat. Interested to know whether your connection prevents you from watching any model using HD (such as Jake, Domenic or Paul who have posted here) or is it just Group Chat?

The weird thing is I can view some HD models just fine (everything loads up and there is no lag) and others I can't.
I was in a HD guy-guy room earlier and it worked fine. I tried a few other HD rooms and they wouldn't work.
I'd guess the more traffic in an HD room could cause people on slower connections to have a lag or for the room not to load.
I'll add my comments to the thread you mentioned. Quote

Also we have the option to turn up our bit/frame rate if OUR internet connections can support it. We would need to be uploading at at least 600kbps to be broadcasting in HD correctly, however if you turn everything up to MAX (which some models do) it can be as much as 1-1.5 mbps that we are uploading. You may want to ask the model if they can turn their speed down to accomodate you, but as most members prefer the high speeds becuse it is so seamless, this may prove to be difficult. Quote

Thanks from me too, Domenic. I have noticed some variation in HD quality, and this helps to explain why Quote

Domenic is correct. However, while MUCH of the quality of the cam a member is trying to view is affected by the model's Internet speed (did you know there are several levels of speed?), processing speed, RAM, etc., the SAME thing happens on a member's side of the coin. For instance, just this week, I had my cable provider DOUBLE my Internet speed, which has been pretty fantastic for my fans (and truthfully, for me as well). That said, there are some members that keep saying, "Your camera skips, or cuts out or xyx...." It actually has NOTHING to do with my side (I have a top of the line new computer, LIGHTNING fast Internet speed, etc. etc.)--rather, they just either have a crappy computer or awful Internet speed/connection. But that's nothing I can fix, because it's the member's side of the coin.
ALSO--interesting fun fact--did you know that when a model goes wireless, they lose about 25% of their Internet connection speed? True story. And if the member is ALSO going wireless--that would basically be another 25% loss. Without going all algebraic on you...let's just use simple math: 25% + 25% = 50% loss of speed if both are using wireless. MOST members (and models too) would really make a difference in their connection speed and quality of camming if they would just plug in their Ethernet cable into their computer. --Adam Foxx

Around here, the max DSL download speed is 10m, the max broadband cable download speed is 20m. I get 40m download with wideband cable and 5m upload. For broadcasting, the upload speed is the important one. With my service, wireless download speeds are half that of hard wired. I am not sure how the upload speed is affected, but I assume it also is cut in half.
Anyway, I agree that everyone should avoid WIRELESS connections. ISPs love it when their customers go wireless because it cuts their bandwidth usage in half! Quote

Thanks for this further info, Adam.
The key point for this topic is how this can all improve the Group Chat experience. It was suggested in the News and Announcements forum that when models start the Group Chat pledge process there is a jump in CPU usage. This suggests that the extra graphics could also require extra broadband capacity, which could cause problems for the main video screen for those with slower connections.
I assume that models are advised on the best settings to use for Group Chat. Quote

If you get a High spec high end Wireless router you will experience significantly less reduction in your wireless speed.

You're correct--which is why the loss in speed is "only" 25% instead of much higher.

People who are on slower connections, like myself, cannot utilize group chat since models MUST be in HD to use it.
I hope VS take this point on board, paperpunch, and encourage models to use reasonable HD settings (mbps) so that the maximum number of people can enjoy Group Chat. My internet provider (AOL) rations internet use at busy times of the day, so my normally fast connection could become slower then.
I am loving Group Chat and have now enjoyed successful Group Chats with about 10 different models. Everything worked really well: pledge process, chat, video and sound (where the model had this). A few times the screen froze when the Group Chat was finished and the model switched to the normal screen. Not a major problem.
With one model, the video picture was a bit jumpy during the pledge process. I didn't pledge any tips, and it is possible that others had the same problem. The model did not meet the target. (I mentioned it in a separate message to the model). I don't like to think that the model (and the studio) could become disillusioned with Group Chat as a result of a technical problem like this.

Regarding the other issues mentioned, performers must understand that with expansion and recruiting of more models, there is an increase of unregistered users who may be trying out the site for the first time. Performers would not be here if it wasn't profitable (Don't get me started on some of the other models from around the world and their studio conditions and BOSSES!, another topic for another time). I agree that in a model's room, whether registered or not, users are guests. Recently users are showing more disrespectful behavior, using function keys "whats your favorite cock size", shouting out commands before saying hello to the performer. this is rude and disrespectful.
VS needs to post an agreement statement regarding acceptable chat room behavior and a box that must be checked, and if not followed, users will be banned for 30 days or more. Translated to the country the user is from. VS has the technology to do this but maybe too costly an investment? They have the ability to follow documentation from performer to the user. Let's work together in this virtual community to make thing better for all.
PEACE AND PROSPERITY TO ALL! HERE AND IN THE REAL WORLD! Quote
