We wanted to take this opportunity to let all of our users know that our site will have a small period of scheduled downtime on Monday, August 28th, at 3AM PST for a window of 10-30 minutes.

During this downtime, we’ll be upgrading our core systems for speed improvements, which is a fundamental step towards moving our site over to a Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTPS). You will notice no major changes when we come back online, but the site experience will be better for both users and broadcasters.

We appreciate your patience, and we will do our best to minimize the disruption as much as possible.

Too bad u can't get everyone to logoff and go dark before u start the upgrade. Terminating and restoring active sessions, very messy. Alas, that level of cooperation and coordination is probably too much to hope for. :)

:evil what a joke... "site will be down" Good to see that posting... and models guests etc prepared for that... privates, parties, etc stopped after the 1 minute warning sent out to them ( good to see), but then nothing happened and everyone was waiting... nothing happened... phones are not answered ( after 10 mins on hold), tweets were not replied too, and no further messages about the maintenance n this site or twitter. maybe, someone, some where should investigate the use of the word might. how long should we all wait for something, or a message saying it was done without turning off the site????

Hang in there Jamie, ur on the right track and the efforts are most appreciated, regardless of the "noise level from some in the room". It's not much different than an MMORPG, 1) the advance warning was cool, 2) the 1 minute warning was really cool, and 3) don't forget ur all clear. If the people u r working with on the other end are not ready after some reasonable length of time, then it's OK to to stand down, just float an all clear so folks can go back to business as usual. And, no matter how well (or not) it goes, someone will always bitch about it; but in the main, the efforts are appreciated. Fire

In the middle of all the activity to do something like this, too much communication can also be confusing, just an all clear to put everyone at ease and back to "whatever they were doing".
Explanations about delay or reschedule come later in news and announcements. Better that way. Keep it simple.
Strikes?? Whoa, strikes? u in France? LOL

Hang in there VS_Jamie, a degree of p**sing and moaning from the uninformed was to be expected. Advance warning was cool, "1" minute warning was cool, I missed the all clear, but my "model" caught it, and we were back on line within minutes service was restored. All things considered, given the magnitude of the upgrade, it wasn't that bad. In the main, my experience with the platform changes has so far been good. The "customization" options in VOD Reviews is really cool. Navigation seems "snappier". FireOut
