The new video is 640x480 native broadcast instead of 320x240 that we used previously. We've also switched to using a new codec that transmits this larger video using less bandwidth. The new codec is also better at handling connection hiccups.
When you see it ... you'll know. Soon we will push out an upgrade to the model list that will begin to identify the rooms using the improved video to make them easier to find.
Enjoy the new video!

Interesting, not sure why that would have happened but we'll look into it.

There was no chat in the old interface to talk to the model
I just noticed that when I have the resolution on my monitors set to 1024x768 the chat area in the old interface gets cut off due to the video being so large. The new video is, in terms of height, the largest we've ever broadcast.
Did you happen to try it in the 'new' chat interface?

Xmas really is coming early this year , didn't get to see the test room but will keep an eye out for this new video codec setup
What sort of bandwidth do models need for this new codec to work right at a decent frame rate and are all models able to switch to this now ? Also do they need to update their performer application for it to be available to them ? Quote

We're suggesting that performers have at least 600k upload speed to use this. We're not going to remove the old video codec though so performers will still have the other option.

Nope, not to everyone yet. We're still testing some things and need to wrap up some changes in the VOD process. We hope to open it up to all performers as an option before the end of the year.

Sounds good

Yes can imagine new codecs means new headaches for the backend VOD conversions. I know very well the headaches of video conversions and keeping audio/video in sync and playable over Flash video players. Wish you guys luck with it and looking forward to seeing it in action.

For me the new interface is superior. Most important for me are the chat window and the video window.
If the chat window is maximized first and after that the video window is dragged to max, both windows together fill almost the whole screen.
The experience could be even better if the new codec would improve the video quality.
Of course its just from a Vip point of view (what the hell "vip", i am just a normal guy!) and maybe its worse for other registered users.

The tests we had today went well. Going to open it up to more performers early next week so you should start to see more of these rooms in the coming days and weeks.
We're going to start identifying which rooms are HD as well; that's in the works.

We have added an "HD" overlay to the sample images on the home page of performers using the new video to make them easy to find during these first few days.

Awesome, glad you like it. Definitely exciting to see performers starting to use the new video. In several cases it has been like seeing the performer for the very first time!

I do have trouble getting the video, chat and room list to display at times but overall I think this is a great improvement.

Yes, just not in this first release. We have to do some custom stuff to get the necessary width/height information flowing through the system for the new video rooms re: the 16:9 aspect ratio. Normally we'd try to hold off until the 16:9 worked as well, but the quality improvements for 4:3 were just so great we felt it better to run with it.
