Technical Support: Tipping in Pledge mode for group chat
Pledge mode for group chat should allow you to tip as well. So the tip contributes to the pledge but also sets off the models interactive toy. This is the case when you have the special weekends with pumpkins, hearts etc or I think it is, but normall pledges do nothing in my experience.

Hello, thank you for the suggestion! The reason we haven't added support for this is due to the fact pledges work differently by being returned to the user if the show doesn't happen and tips don't have that functionality so they can't be used interchangeably. Our best suggestion is to tip once the show start vs in the pledging phase.

Boring :P But how does it work when you give eggs or hearts etc then? i assuem they dont get returned?

Yes with the holiday gifts they're treated in the system like a tip or virtual gift and so also wouldn't be able to be returned if the show didn't happen. Hope that helps!

Isnt that what the original poster was requesting? to be able to tip like normal..it contibutes to the pledge but is none returnable as per the holiday gifts?

If I remember correctly they disabled tipping during the pledge period because users not used to the site would tip thinking they were actually pledging and this was causing confusion and some angry customers. So to simplify things they decided to disable tips during the pledge period.
