Had a deal code badge which - according to the e-mail announcing it - would expire 10/3, which is today. But it is no longer available for me to redeem. No badge anywhere in chatroom. If I click on Start show tab, there is no option for deal. (E-mail is still in my box, if you want to verify.) What gives?

It expires on Oct 3, today is Oct 3, therefore it has expired. You should have used it before it expired at midnight last night.
You don't get an extra day because you didn't use it.

Is that really how it works? I never had one go to the last day before.

I had assumed that - like coupons and ANY other "offer" I have *ever* heard of - the "expires" date is the date it ends ... meaning it is STILL GOOD that day. If they do it differently here, it is confusing, at least to me.

Just for the heck of it, I did a Goo-Gull search, and found this - first hit - from QUORA.Com: "If there is an expiration date then the contract or product is still valid on expiration day." There was no other site that interpreted it the way you did. I'd like to hear from F4F how they do ...

>You should have used it before it expired at midnight last night.<

Midnight is technically 00:00am, the FOLLOWING day. (Not my opinion: look it up and you will see all are in agreement on this.)

Therefore, something that expires on 10/3 is still valid up to 11:59:59 (one second to midnight), and expires the next second.

PS: I called Tech Support and asked about this, since you believe F4F interprets it the way you do. Both the customer service person I spoke to and his supervisor agreed that a 10/3 expiration is still good on 10/3, But they will post an "official" response soon.

Let's get serious. HOW LONG can it possibly take to figure out what you mean by "This deal code will expire 2020-10-03 " ??? It has been two days since your response.

Is it still valid ON 10/3, up until (and before) midnight? EVERY online source I could find would interpret it that way. (But F4F no longer showed the code as existing the morning of 10/3, which was the point of my message.)

This isn't rocket science. It is simple instructions that you EXPECT users to be able to understand. But apparently you aren't sure what you meant to say? Unreal ...

Guys. I am aware that the site runs on Eastern US time. But we are not talking an hour or two.

We are talking about deals that are gone at the BEGINNING of the day it is supposed to expire! And F4F can't decide how the meaning of their OWN worded canned e-mails, notifying the user of the deal!

Guys, it is like NYStingRay explained it.

The implementation (and interpretation) at VS Media for deal code expiration is "expires by [date]" and NOT "expires with [date]".
In many European countries / regulations, the expiration date always means "expires with [date]" (= still valid at [date]).
In USA expiration date usually means "expires by [date]" (= becomes invalid by [date]).

This also confused me, but it is kind of culture how expiration dates are handled.

The Codes for deals say EXPIRES ON (date). Every source I could find online agrees that the offer would still be valid ON that date, since it expires at the end of that final day.

Yes, if it said "expires by" it might be different. But I have used coupons all my life, managed two retail stores that accepted them, and have NEVER heard any such "US version" that says the offer expired before the day begins. If you can provide a cite to back up your rather strange interpretation, I'd love to see it.

And, customer support ... PLEASE put this top to rest and say HOW you interpret here on F4F. It should not take 11 days (literally) to come to that decision!

Bear_Balu and I told you how F4F interprets it. Just because YOU don't like the answer doesn't change the fact that you waited one day too long.
See for yourself, check out any public deal that is going to expire soon. Look at it two days before, the day before and the day you think it should expire. It won't be there. How many people do you need to explain this very simple fact to you. I don't care what the internet tells you, or who agrees with you, you want to know how does Flirt4Free interpret and we explained it to you.

NYS it is how you think VS interprets it - but what I miss is the answer of VS how they are really interpreting it. As it says "code expires:" I would go with Graybear. BB's explanation is nice - but unfortunatelly VS hasn't confirmed the by date or the with date so far. Me as european would take it as expire by date.

I hope for an customer service reply for clarification

I told you how it works, if you don't believe me, do your own experiment. Find a public deal code and monitor when it goes away.

Do you really need customer service to post, "NYStingRay is right"
The forum is for sharing information. Not just complaining, which is what you do. Take my word, I know how the site works.

No, thanks. I'd rather hear from people who work there. (Even though the first Admin response did not know, and it has been 13 days since, with no clarification!)

Why you think me or GB don't know either ? One thin is how it is - the other thing is how it was intended to be. That the dealcode expires a day before the expiration date ( is already expired at expiration date) GB already found out - thats why he asked VS how they define an expiration date.
Usually the at an experiation date the named date is included, the last day it is valid. Thats the way you are used by coupons for supermarket, amazon deal days etc - they usually are valid until midnight of printed date.

THANK YOU. I am glad to see you get the point I was trying to make: that it is MISLEADING to say something "expires ON" a date, if it indeed expired at midnight of the day before. THAT is what I am trying to have them clarify. But F4F apparently is confused by their own wording, and has not answered.

If you do a web search, 100% of the responses say that it is still good on the "expires on" date. No hint of any :"US rule" to the contrary, If F4F wants it to expire the day before, then they should make that clear as the "expires on" date, or "use before" current date.

Congratulations, gentlemen. This has been the most useless thread I've read here, and there are many that drag on way past the point for the sake of pee-ing contests and drama queen foolery. The entire topic could have been handled with a phone call, where my experience is that CS is always very serving with credits as a salve for whatever your beef is. The airing of beefs in the forums has become deregueur. It used to be a place for tips and tricks, but now it stands in where a customer service call would be better for a few blokes who need to do what they do in front of an audience, or think that complaining publicly and shaming the company that clearly knows how to make a buck is somehow powerful . We truly are a lonely lot. Goodbye forever.
