Technical Support: Removal of a forum posting

Just wonder who has the power to remove a forum posting? I can see the site removing it if there is something offensive being said in it, but if that is not the case why would it be removed.
According to my understanding the only persons that can remove or delete a posting here is an administrator or the originator of the thread.
