I spotted that one of my Inbox message threads showed a date of Feb 20, but the last message was mine date Feb 14. I checked with the model (an experienced top model) and he confirmed he sent me a message on Feb 20 and an earlier one on Feb 17. I didn't receive either of these messages.
If 2 messages can go missing in the same thread, it suggests that many more messages may be going astray. Some of these could be where I ask a model if he will do a special private show and he doesn't (appear to) reply. That could mean the end of my friendship with that model, so reliable messaging is pretty important.
I know for sure of a number of other messages which have never reached my Inbox, where I have received a separate e-mail to tell me that a model has sent me a message. Usually those appear to be bulk mailings (eg Hi Guys - I've been away and I'm back now). I don't know if these are handled differently, but the messages should still appear in my Inbox.
Would be grateful if VS could put this right, so that Flirt4Free has a 100% reliable internal message system. Quote
Ronnie, if a model includes personal information in a message, for example an email address or a phone number, it's possible you will not receive it. This could happen inadvertently, for example a character string containing "@" could be construed as an email address, and a string of digits could be construed as a phone number. Also if any banned words are included in the message it's possible you will not receive it. This could also happen inadvertently. Quote

I suspect that many models innocently include their Twitter user names (like @mytwitter) in their messages. You are suggesting that many of these messages won't be delivered, and models won't be aware of it
In the case of a forum post, you are alerted to problem words or characters before posting, or you see later that the post has been removed by admin. That seems to me to be a rather more satisfactory option for Inbox messages
I also mentioned those cases where I get a VS e-mail notification saying I have received a message from a model (and including the message itself). I think I could reasonably expect to see those same model messages in my Inbox here, and am not sure why this doesn't always happen Quote

Ronnie, I agree it would be reasonable to expect this. I also think I could reasonably expect to receive the notifications I have requested, but I don't. Unfortunately there are many irregularities, inconsistencies and incongruities on this site Quote

The model online notifications seem to be working well now btw. Quote

I thought that mass mailings might be treated differently, and am grateful for your advice. However, I recently had e-mail notification of a model's individual reply to me which didn't reach my Inbox.
I wonder if VS could make a small improvement, so that models and members know whether or not their internal messages have been received. (For example, a little red X if the message has been blocked by the system). VS are making so many changes to the site at the moment which appear to be largely cosmetic, so I hope they might consider this.

Bump
As VS are now implementing changes to the internal message system, I thought it might be timely to repeat this request.
It would be very useful for senders to know whether their Inbox messages are actually received or whether they have been blocked.

In the new system, you will always be notified if a message that you sent is blocked. A message is sent to you by the system which will appear in your Inbox. This message contains the details of the blocked message.

Many Thanks, Keep Up the Good Site Quote
Steve, there's no such list. Providing a list would kinda defeat the purpose, don't you think?
I suspect the words banned in messages would be similar to, if not the same as, the words banned in chat Quote

Has this happened to anyone else? Quote

Yes had same Message, and then my message to model was returned to my inbox, this was my point in POST #11, trying to work out what was wrong in my message to a model
