Technical Support: smaller video image in free chat and other changes today

With changes made today my image size in free chat is smaller than it was before. It is more pronounced on a 1280x1024 resolution monitor where I used to be able to make the chat window narrow enough that both the video and chat windows were almost the same height, and the TIP button actually overlaid the cpm info below the chat window. Now I can't move the border between the windows that far, so the video image doesn't get as big.
It also appears that on both the 1280x1024 and the 1920x1080 screens some video image size was lost to make space for the promotion banner immediately below the video and chat windows, but it's hard to tell for sure without being able to compare side by side.
This is on v4.0.66 of the client software in Chrome, btw.
It also appears that the removal of the peeks during privates has been implemented today--we still get the curtains opening but the video image is black.
It appears that for really long VODs (70 mins for example) you get more than 10 storyboard images now, which is nice.
Has the flash/Chrome compatibility issue been resolved (the one that made the emoticons appear in the wrong place in the chat window) so that we can use current versions of flash? Quote

May I ask, is there any place on the site that announces upcoming changes other than the forums? I had not heard that the peeks while models were in private were going to be discontinued.
Also, was there a reason behind discontinuing the peeks? I can understand if models had concerns about it, but from a member's perspective, I would imagine it would be helpful to see if the private was an actual show or just a friendly chat. If the first, then going into multi-user or voyeur would be a valid option; if the second, I would not be expending credits just to watch a conversation. And if a person voyeurs, feels dissatisfied because it was only a chat, and complains and requests a refund, will VS accept that?

I agree. The peeks were useful for many reasons to see what the model was up to to decide whether to have multi-user, pvt afterwards etc.

I agree. The peeks were useful for many reasons to see what the model was up to to decide whether to have multi-user, pvt afterwards etc.

hmmm, it seems the announcement was only made in the General Discussions (VIP Only) Forum as the anonymous F4F staff member who made the announcement was under the impression that only VIPs got the "peek". It should have gone in the News & Announcements Forum as it is relevant to all members
The announcement was made on 11/26 at 10:46 am. It read :
"For over 10-years we have offered a "peek" into paid shows at different intervals. Long ago this "peek" was available to all customers and was curtailed years later to just VIP members. Our most recent tweak on this functionality was to employ graphic curtains which open for 5 seconds and then close for the next 55 seconds. Unfortunately we are required to abandon the peek entirely later this week in favor of improving video security.
Like any system that has been around as long as ours, you acquire digital baggage over the years; sometimes this baggage must be discarded to make room for other features and improvements. In our case, the 5-second "peek" was causing a number of issues thwarting our efforts to further improve the security of our live video streams and we made the decision to scrap the peek so we can provide the most secure streams possible.
We understand that many VIP members have enjoyed this functionality over the years and we hope you understand our reasons behind this change. The front-end interfaces will be updated throughout the week to accommodate this change."

No, I don't understand the change nor am I happy about it. You keep taking away more and more services but you keep the same high prices AND IT SUCKS !!!

Then there's no point in having the "curtains" part at all now, is there? Except to rub our noses in the fact that now we can't see anything. You might as well redo that part of the software to eliminate the curtains parting and replace it with something else.

What a shame is that? Now they are showing by opening the curtain a standing picture. Not only for members also for new models and new clients it is no more comfort to find out if a model is what he like in private or not. By all that expensive rates, they now want members to buy the cat in the sack. A model should not and must not undress in open to see if he is what we like and the infos in bio are anyway to laugh, so that is also nothing you can use to find out if you enter the right room. On the practical side of things, I think it will reduce the voyeur-ratio. Additionally the rooms will be pretty fast empty once a private starts. Up to now some rooms were quite a treat even with the model in show, since the members stayed in, chatting and waiting to perhaps jump into voyeur or only to welcome the model(s) back.
I wonder, if the models will be happy to find their rooms empty once coming out of a show.

Having been on this site since almost day one i think this change to remove the preview screen is horseshit! We are already burdened by so many other restrictions on this site (e.g. no free vod of own privates) I won't be surprised to see it go down the drain soon.
F4F is one of the most expensive sites around yet no perks for paying customers - beside the amazing girls.
The preview allows people to gauge if they should take a model private, i dont see how this is a secuity flaw as the pane is still there and isn't the reason why/how people capture videos of privates, its just a poor excuse to force people into having to go private. Quote

If this site had someone who knew how to market a website like F4F, they would have a goldmine here! I guess all of the recent changes on the site are for the short term and not for building customer loyalty! Quote
