Technical Support: adding screen names

Hi,
I currently have an issue where I'm unable to add a screen name or choose a nickname. Am told that "they are in use". This has never happened before. I emailed customer support who suggested deleting temp files and cookies.
I did, but the issue remains.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

While I reply, please bear in mind that the custom nickname tool is a tool provided to allow you to create 'disposable' names and that these are not permanently attached to your account. For permanent names you have the 10 screen names that you can manage via your My Account page.
Here's what's happened:
Prior to this week, the chat system would allow VIPs to create custom nicknames regardless of whether that name already belonged to a standard user. This week we have made an update that will only allow you to select custom chat nicknames that do not belong to anyone else. If you get the error message "The screen name you are trying to use already belongs to another user" this means that you can't use that name.
You can still create custom chat nicknames, but they need to be unique.

Thanks for the quick response.
I get what you're saying, but I'm unable to add disposable nicknames OR permanent screen names. I've tried over a dozen nicknames, and they're all being rejected. I think it's unlikely that they are all in use. So, I don't really know what the answer is. I hope that it's still possible to add "disposable" custom nicknames.
All I know is that currently I cannot.
I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this issue?

chin bb some intesting observations regarding screen names that i've collected over my long long history with adult chat ect.
names with '4u' in them have usually been so overused that they get a (LAME.NAME.BAN) almost immediately when showing up on a models room list.
names with any form of 'Daddy' in them are likewise thrown into the wood chipper on a routine basis.. expecially if they whisper non-stop about what "DADDAH WANTS"
names with numbers like 'bob289' and 'lance23' or 'jerkmahpenis10' have usually been or are currently in use.
names with underscores have recently (ohhhh 3 years or so here) become QUITE the thing.. though.. those using them must conform to certain 'rules of behavior' such as
1. never begging, demanding, pleading our nagging
2. never asking for any animal tricks when tipping in freechat
3. ALWAYS attempt to be perky, fun, and frollicy (sp)
4. occassionally wax into either copyrighted song or on-the-fly rhyming verses regarding gay pirates.. i know .. i know.. so crass but if you involve various VS_{screen.names} in the lyrics it's sure to get some chuckles
the list is far longer but i think you get the idea eh?
So.. keep plugging at the name thing.. sooner or later, your wonderful imagination will SOAR and you will find your groove at selecting wonderfully amusing and inventive screen names.. i just KNOW you have it in you!!!!

Cannot choose a new nick while I'm in the chat room, and by that I mean the disposable nicks(not the permanent 10 names that the members are limited to). When I try any custom nickname and click update, I get the error -
Nickname Taken - 110. The chat nickname you provided is already in use in the system. Please return to the login page and try again.
This happens even if I try - anynicknamenottaken or cmonhowareyou
I tried different browsers and cleared cookies & cache but it's the same result. Quote

tried to change to a random set of letters and numbers and says it's taken.

I think this is an important update!
I confirm however the problems with the custom nicknames the others report here, but I was able to create a permanent nickname just yesterday.

I too attempted several disposable names and NONE of them would take.. i tired 7 different iterations of MyPenisHurtsWhenIdoThis and it wouldnt take any of themn... there is a coding problem.. simple as that.... PLease fix it before the weekend.. because as we ALL know.. nothing happens on weekends.....
wow .. early start of the traditional weekend glitch. Long weekend in westcoast US that the weekend bug had to be activated on a thursday instead of saturday as usual ?

well.. i have tried in the interim about 20 other completely absurd nicknames and every single one of them i try to enter with i get the OOPS screen... so this is DEFINITELY a software coding problem... unless "MichaelJacksonLuvsKids" is seriously taken by someone else as a saved nick.... LOL Quote

Tech guys had party weekend - so they took friday off and released weekend-bugbear already on a thursday.
Now they have their work for half next week - other half they will spent for next weekends surprise.
