Maybe they have found sneaky ways of banning us in 'light' mode. Just as they kick us without having the guts to inform us.
So many lament the latest "disconnected" parlez.
Are we parranoid? Quote
the browser will either crash or the chat room just stops updating. Quote

My experience has been quite the opposite. I have done hundreds of group chats, party chats and private shows and I don't think I have ever seen the chat screen freeze or go blank during a show or in open chat. I have sometimes seen the video screen freeze or go blank, but that is a different matter.
I do sometimes have problems where everything freezes just after the end of a Group Chat (TorinGray and Bisport's posts above). Again, I think that is a different issue. Quote
I'm not sure when this started up, as I've been very light on this site for the last year. Obviously though, it takes a lot out of the experience! Quote

I hope that might give VS or others a clue as to what is causing your problem, silverado.
I think there might be a link between the scroll bar and the main window size. I use a 1024 x 768 display, and the default F4F main window is a bit smaller than that. I often need to "stretch" the main window to make the chat scroll bar visible. Whenever I do that the whole screen refreshes, which is rather odd. Might be worth experimenting with window/screen sizes while you wait for other responses.

I can now confirm that the chat DOES NOT freeze upon the appearance of the scroll bar. I also have no problem seeing the scroll bar...that is, when enough text has been displayed before my chat window seems to time out and freeze.
After investigating, it seems the chat freezes around 30 seconds after loading the room (it's difficult to tell as there is no indication when it freezes, you just no longer receive updated chat messages). Maybe "freeze" is the wrong word to use, as I can still input text myself and it appears on screen, but I no longer see other user messages or the model's messages.
Frustrating! Quote

Thanks Purg and everyone else for their insight.
