With the changes made 11/29 my image size in free chat is smaller than it was before. This occurs on my 1280x1024 resolution monitor where I used to be able to make the chat window narrow enough that both the video and chat windows were almost the same height, and the TIP button actually overlaid the cpm info below the chat window. Now I can't move the border between the windows that far, so the video image doesn't get as big.
This isn't an issue on the 1920x1080 monitor.

I don't usually add topics here, but I would have added a separate new topic here about my last post (smaller image in Group Chat) if there weren't so many new topics.
On promo days (3 days out of the last 4) VS have decided to put the promo banner underneath the video and chat windows. I don't like that for starters. I suspect that is also the reason why the video window in Group Chat is often tiny and can't be expanded to its full size. That should be fixed soon - please VS
Although I haven't spotted that the video image is any smaller in free (open) chat, which is the problem you raised, I think it could well be related. Has it only happened since VS started to put the promo banner underneath the video and chat windows?

I can't see my user name now.
I have to keep glancing at it from time to time to make sure the site is not changing my screen name back to my default name.
Now I have to scroll, since the banner pushes it out of view. Quote

I think they actually fixed a bug that you used to be able to make the chat window in free chat narrow enough that the TIP button was on top of the cpm info. I relied on that behavior on my 1280x1024 monitor to make the chat window narrow so that the the video window could be a reasonable size (almost as tall as the chat window). Now I can't make the chat window that narrow. I'm hoping they'll put back the bug or find another way to allow narrowing the chat window.
There might be a similar issue in group chat. I know on my 1280x1024 monitor group chat was pretty unusable anyway because the video window (which is the same size pre-show and during the show) couldn't get very big. But when I join a group chat or go pvt I use the big monitor since I'm generally not multitasking
I tried to figure out if the promo banner has contributed to the issue, but I don't think it has--at least not for the free chat problem.

I assume you know about the "Normal video size" and "Full video size" buttons underneath the video window in group chat. You want "Full video size" (the right button in the right group of 2) and then move the dots as far to the right as they'll go. But on a 4:3 aspect ratio monitor the video window won't get very big in group chat. It was really designed for 16:9 monitors it appears. But that was true before the recent changes. I think the recent changes may reset some of the settings llke the video size selection. Quote

No promo today, so no big promo banner across the middle of the screen. Hooray
However, the new position of the promo banner is not the cause of the problem. I am still getting the same video problem with Group Chat (for the first time since it was launched in August 2011). Video screen appears minimum size, and the 7 dots don't work as they should. They make the video bigger, but if I try to make it normal size it reverts to the minimum size.

Thanks for reminding me about these buttons, wonderboi. I have never needed to use them. Sounded like a possible solution (eg that the default setting is now small rather than large). However, I tried the buttons just now and they didn't make any difference.
This problem only started on 29 November, at the same time as the similar problem you reported, so I hope it can quickly be fixed.

I'm a bit surprised that others aren't reporting the same problem though. Perhaps it is a 4:3 screen problem, and most users are now using widescreen 16:9 Quote
